The Western Cape, the province where Beit Midrash Morasha is situated is currently experiencing a an unprecedented drought. Taps will run dry within a few weeks. The Chief Rabbi of South Africa, Rabbi Dr Warren Goldstein has instituted a prayer to be added during Shma Koleinu, “Hear Our Voice” in the weekday Amida.
Chief Rabbi Goldstein  explained that when saying this prayer, we should pray for three things:
1. That government is granted the wisdom to deal with the drought effectively
2. That the rainy season begins early
3. That the rain, when it comes, will be plentiful and bring blessing.
Together with our prayers for rain in the Western Cape, we pray for rain in Israel
